One of the divisions of Travelers, TRAVELERS GUARANTEE is hiring for a Financial Analyst. Reporting to the Assistant VP, the incumbent will be working in the Toronto Contract Surety Group, this is an entry-level position that would see the successful candidate begin a career path to becoming an underwriter of surety credit risk. Working closely with brokers and clients from Manitoba to Atlantic Canada, the candidate would ultimately be responsible for assessing risk and evaluating financial capacity of existing and potential opportunities.
Job Specifications:

Manage and maintain an assigned portfolio of accounts

Build and maintain effective relationships with select brokers and clients

Evaluate the Capital, Capacity and Character of existing and potential clients

Perform risk assessment and financial evaluation of existing and potential clients

Attend industry functions through a designated territory (some travel required)

Requirement to complete the ACSB (Associate in Canadian Surety Bonding) designation through the University of Toronto (paid for by Travelers Guarantee)
Job Qualifications:

Excellent oral and written skills, computer literacy/aptitude, and interpersonal skills

Proven analytical ability, strong problem solving and decision making skills

An ability to read and comprehend financial statements

Highly motivated to meet requirements of position.

Developing strong customer service skills and productive broker/client relationships in support of business objectives.

Demonstrated leadership characteristics and traits

Prior work experience with a surety company, bank or other financial institution is an asset, as is experience in commercial credit analysis or for those pursuing a designation such as a CGA or CMA.

Completion of a university degree, preferably in a business discipline such as finance, accounting or economics, is required.
