TRAVELERS GUARANTEE COMPANY OF CANADA is hiring for a Claims Analyst in the Toronto branch. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Senior Claims Analyst & Team Leader. In this position, the successful candidate will investigate, analyze, evaluate and adjust contract, commercial and related surety products claims.
Job Specifications:
- Analyze, investigate and adjust surety claims with active supervision by Senior Claims Analysts and management
- Master all operational policies, procedures, workflow and performance standards in order to comply with all regulatory and surety customer service standards
- Maintain accurate and organized claim files and accurately input all data into the claims computer system
- Master all claim documentation standards
- Prepare reports to management to accurately reflect loss development, potential/actual financial exposure, coverage issues and claim and recovery strategies
- Identify salvage opportunities and coordinate recovery efforts
- Retain, monitor, manage and approve payments to outside counsel and consultants
- Develop advanced negotiating skills and strategies
- Continuous education in connection with our products, the market place, construction, relevant case law and statutes
Job Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail
- Good negotiation skills
- Ability to effectively manage a significant portfolio of claim files
- Strong computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles is an asset
- Strong interest in the construction industry
- Solid understanding of the principles of surety and surety law is an asset as is working knowledge of the basic principles of the Construction Lien Act
- Construction related experience with respect to reviewing contracts and subcontracts, project management, scheduling, contract accounting, dispute resolution is an asset
- Some knowledge of the principles of contract law, construction law and insurance law is an asset
- LLB/JD or MBA degree or P. Eng., CGA, CA or CMA designation would be an asset
