ST. PAUL FIRE & MARINE INSURANCE COMPANY of Canada is hiring for a Translator. He or she will be reporting to the Manager, Corporate Underwriting Services. The successful incumbent will be responsible for providing quality, accurate and timely translations (from English to French) to meet business needs in both official languages.
Job Specifications:
· Translates the most highly technical, complex or sensitive text into French in accordance with Quebec's French Language Charter and industry standards, as assigned;
· Revises, reviews and edits translations from both internal and external parties, providing final approval, as well as support and guidance to encourage learning and development within the department;
· Proofreads and provides final approval on packaging and labeling, ensuring adherence to Quebec's provincial legislation and federal requirements;
· Manages several assignments and priorities at once;
· Shares knowledge and expertise with colleagues;
· Other duties, as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
· University degree in French translation or equivalent with over 5 years of legal, technical and administrative translation experience;
· Fully bilingual in French and English;
· Excellent oral and written communication skills;
· Ability to work well with multiple priorities and within tight deadlines;
· Well-developed problem - solving, planning and organizational skills;
· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and translation tools (Terium and Le Grande Dictionnaire terminologique);
· Experience in the Insurance Industry is essential;
· Certification from the Canadian Translators Council or membership in a provincial association of translators would be an asset.
